Fashion savvy consumers simply cannot get enough of the unique merchandise.  Men, women and teens are willing to shell out big bucks for shirts, skirts, pants, hoodies, hats - all blazoned with the unique tattoo art that has made the previously unknown artist a household name in many areas of the world.

The History and Purpose of Toys

Since the beginning of time Mothers have been trying to find ways to occupy their children. Therefore it is no surprise that toys have been around since the beginning of time. The natural playfulness and curiosity of children make toys a natural progression. For instance a child's imagination can figure out, how to make a game out of, and play with anything.

A child can occupy themselves making roads in the dirt, making castles out of sand, or just digging a little hole, which can create tunnels and other mysterious places. Sea shells, rocks, pine cones or what ever else is available can become a handy toy. In spite of a child's unique creativeness parents throughout time have tried to reward and entertain their children with toys.

Ancient Egyptians created balls from leather and dried papyrus reeds. They also created marbles out of black and white stones. There were many Egyptian dolls as well. Some were made from leather and papyrus; many were carved out of wood, bone, or ivory. Some even had jointed limbs and moveable jaws. The less affluent would fashion dolls and figurines out of clay.

They even created spinning tops, and had many different physical games, with balls and sticks and wrestling. They also enjoyed board games such as Mehen and Senet. Ancient Roman toys were similar. They had balls and games played with hoops and sticks. Wooden swords and shields were also popular for simulated battle games.

Like the Egyptians the Romans enjoyed board games and marbles. They also created dolls and figurines out of wood, wax, and terra cotta. Similarly the inhabitants of early Greece enjoyed wooden horses on wheels pulled by strings, terra cotta dolls, clay animals, baby rattles, and primitive yo-yos.

I found a New York Times article from 1902 that was about the big Christmas toys of that year. They were new automobile toys, some were metal wind up editions, and some were more elaborate expensive toy automobiles that adults were purchasing. The other big toy hits of that year were toy submarine boats and flying machines.

Baby dolls have been popular throughout the centuries. But in 1960 the first Barbie fashion doll was introduced. Other great toys from the 1960's were slinkies, colour forms, the view master, etch-a-sketch, lite brite, spirograph, the Fort Apache play set, Marvel the Mustang, and too many more to mention.

Many of these toys are still popular today. Plus we have some new toys. Besides the great strides made in electronics and video games, we have Bakugan Battle Brawlers. Barbie is still around but she is joined by the Bratz, Moxie Girlz, and Liv Dolls. There are tons of new board games and action figures. Plus the classic games and toys of the past are still around and being improved upon.

In spite of changes in time and technology the basic premise of play has remained unchanged. Toys have always been used to stimulate the imagination and keep children occupied and entertained. No matter how much time passes parents will never grow tired of seeing a child's face light up when presented with a new toy.

Godzilla Final Wars Toys

As movies continue to hit the theaters the craze for toys on the movies are always sought after. A line of toys that has continued to be very popular is the Godzilla Final Wars toys. In 2005 the movie Godzilla Final Wars came to the theaters with their 50th anniversary grand finale and blew the seats of the theater with explosive excitement and sound.

The monster known as Godzilla has become one of the world's most recognized movie characters and it has left a huge impact for viewers worldwide. In addition to Godzilla there are many more monsters from the movie which are sought after as well.

Since the release of the movie, there is a line of toys, the Godzilla Final Wars toys which are action figures made to replicate the monsters of the movie. These Godzilla monsters have been crafted carefully and detailed very well with much detail to the neck, shoulders, and the tails for hours of fun.

Godzilla Final Wars inspired the making of the toys of which many people have started to collect these as well as many children who want to have the collection of Godzilla action figures and stage their own battles at home with their friends.

A great way to package these toys as a gift is to purchase the whole collection of them and give it to someone as the collection. There are many other monsters other than the Godzilla, such as the Mechagodzilla, the burning Godzilla, Rodan, Angilas, and many many more that will turn your room into different scenery.

Antique Toys and Collectibles

Antique toys depicts the history of toys in the past centuries. It portrays the unique ways that every society and culture represents the events of that era. Antique toys helps you to understand the past and realize how past is related to the present and the future.

Antique toys evoke memories of our childhood and the joyful moments of playing with toys. Collecting antique toys could be a very expensive hobby. It is a fascinating hobby too. One can learn a lot from them too, whether it's about soldiers, uniforms, breeds of cows, and pigs, different types of cars, trucks some other vehicles and the companies that own them. Enthusiasm is the key for collecting antique toys. There are some people who may be willing to shell out any amount to complete the toy collection. The factor that one looks for while buying antique toys is its condition and its time of existence.

A toy that is in a good condition will fetch a good price. Toys available in their original box are very expensive and are referred as toys in their mint condition. Whereas, toys that have been used tend to lose their quality, so they are considered less valuable. It is highly recommended that toys be stored in dust free surroundings. The larger the toy the larger is its price, on the other hand the value of a toy with a flaking paint or a missing tab will diminish.

Toys too evolve with time. For example tin toys which were a favorite among children one upon a time wanes away with time and were replaced by plastic toys which were considered safer. Today tin toys make you nostalgic. Tin toys were a replacement to the durable and cheap wooden toys. Tin toys could move and also make sound when wounded. It opened up a child's imagination and provided hours of excitement to children. There was a hen lay eggs, a monkey playing the drum, an elephant riding a bike, telephones etc. However some of the toys which are common do not fetch high value.

In ancient time toys were made from burnt clay also known as terracotta. Making terracotta toys, figures of animals and statuettes was a major industry. A large number of playthings, like miniature carts, dice, marbles, maze, squirrels and toy bullock whose head moves at the pull of a string were made.
